After a nerve racking flight wondering if we would all get in, our jedi mind tricks did the job with the racist border guards, who had assembled with the tv crew filming for a show called "border security" to document our arrival. this is a prime example of cheerleading for the border regime and anti-immigration lobby. this tv program has been opposed for making light entertainment out of peoples misery. Their desperate situations should not be a spectacle for daytime tv. we saw how they singled out people of colour harassment - we had an overwhelming urge to confront them and scream "leave these people alone!".
macho racist cops greeting visitors to canada aint the best welcome, and we are sure tv shows like this encourage aggression and violence towards those unfortunate enough to not look "Canadian". we successfully evaded their scrutiny and invasive questioning but not everyone is as lucky as us. no borders no nations stop deportations.

"Organising for autonomy: Experiences, principles, politics and history of social centre organising in the U.K."
This workshop will be presented by a long term participant of Kebele (http://www.kebelecoop.org/) anarchist social centre in Bristol, U.K. It will look at how such autonomous spaces are organised, the politics and principles we try to put into practice and the history of our social centre and the wider network of radical social centres in the U.K. and beyond.
About Kebele:
Kebele community co-op is an autonomous social centre in Easton, Bristol. Since 1997 it has offered a range of services, activities and events for the local community. Kebele is collectively managed on anarchist principles and is part of an international network of social centres. It is a place where people can meet, share ideas and get involved in the struggle for a better world.
In a world dominated by competition and conflict we believe that co-operation and helping each other out builds strong communities and networks of friendship and solidarity. Kebele is a place where people can learn together, share skills and resources, socialise and support each other.
Rather than waiting for the council to sort our problems (Ha!), we know if we work together we can make changes here and now that will improve our lives, while undermining the power of authoritarian politicians and rulers. This is direct action and what we call the “everyday revolution”.
We are run entirely by volunteers organizing in collectives, without bosses and with equal say. Kebele welcomes everyone, whatever their age, race, gender, sex, social background, sexuality or (dis) ability, as long as they respect themselves, the people around them and the space itself.
There’s many different ways to get involved in the social centre, and we always encourage new ideas, input and volunteers. From cooking for the café or putting on a film, art exhibition or event to fixing bikes or helping with building maintenance and so much more (insert your idea here!)… The list of possibilities to keep Kebele alive and kicking is endless!
We don’t keep Kebele going just for the fun of it (although a good few laughs along the way definitely help it along!); we believe the world can be a much better place and as the present system cracks that need becomes ever more urgent. We have no doubt many people will seek alternatives to the current failure of capitalism, and to break free from dependency on a system which is bankrupt in every way. The capitalist crisis is our opportunity and we hope that spaces like Kebele can offer a good example of what is possible when we organize for ourselves and a glimpse of a different world free from control, authority and profit at all costs. It's not going to be easy, but we believe we make the road by walking it, collectively putting anarchist ideas into practice in our lives everyday.

The Class Assassins: "The Addiction & The Solution"
Rebel Time Records is pleased as punch to announce the release of something new from one of our favourite punk rock outfits! We were stoked to be able to work with The Class Assassins on the band's "Treason" 7" back in 2011 and we are as equally stoked to be a part of this! Read on...
The Class Assassin’s latest offering, “The Addiction & The Solution” is a top-notch, 2-song, 1-theme, digital-only release that clocks in at a super-sized 13+ minutes.
On writing ‘The Addiction,” singer Chad Nugent says: “The lyrics came easily to me as I was fed up with how governments across the globe are in bed with the major corporations and are being bought and controlled by them all the while using us as their tools.” He adds: "I don’t want to get into a big political discussion about it; it’s all in the lyrics. I think that if you read them you’ll see exactly where we are coming from. They stand on their own laurels.” When it came to penning the 9-minute “The Solution”, Chad states that “I looked at the words for The Addiction, then I looked at the Idle No More" movement and it all kind of fell into my lap. I have a deep respect for Indigenous peoples. Right now they are not only standing up for themselves but for the entire globe and that gave me the inspiration I needed. We’re the solution if we all stand together and fight for what’s right. Make your voice be heard!"
Both Cactus and Chad are quick to point out the invaluable assistance of Producer Dave Baksh. “Working with Mr. Dave Baksh is a treat because it’s almost like having a sixth member. Our songs are never truly finished until he hears what we are doing. He really pushes us which brings out the best of us,” says Chad, while Cactus adds,”We were excited to work with Dave Baksh again. After he produced "The Treason 45" we knew we wanted to work with him again. He really gets our band and brings out the absolute best in us every time.” "The Addiction & The Solution" is available NOW from Itunes and Bandcamp. THE ADDICTION I know just what I want/ It’s a world of peace and a world of love/ But it’s so hard to believe in what this world has become/ Some of us will cope where others fail/While all the bankers get out, they get out on bail/ A soldier sets out to war/What’s he really fighting for?/Build the rockets, line the pockets/ For the next generation of the money whores/ Hang on to hope to no avail/ Hang on to everything because it’s all up for sale/ Well you know what’s right & you know what’s wrong/ So tell me what is going on?/Well you know what’s right and you know what’s wrong/So tell me what is going on/ It’s the addiction & it don’t belong/ So tell me what’s been going on/ Hold the power, harness the greed/ Wealth will come from growing the seed/ Build the rockets, line your pockets for the distribution of the chicken feed/ Hang on to hope to no avail/ Hang onto everything because it’s all up for sale/ THE SOLUTION Opinions matter at this event so we all listen to what we are against/Stand and deliver is the intent but it’s all in a colour code as we sit on the fence/What’s the solution? Were the solution/Built up with promise it’s all been sent/All an illusion so we we’ll fold the tents/We will rock you, heads will roll/We must shock you, this nations soul/This nations soul. Were the solution/Stand between the power and the greed. So goes the script we all need/You say you know just what I want/Set the rules, set the play/I flip my card and all I feel is rage/It all comes down to you and me but some of us are too blind to see/They took a turn but turned away as we stand here with something left to say/This attack is on a global stage. Tear it down/No one seems to wanna turn the page. Burn it down/All is lost if we don’t stand. Tear it down/Take back time and circumstance. Burn it down/In search of monsters to destroy/They’re in the mirror not the toy/Lies & bigotry has got no one to employ/No stock, no time, no living proof left in their voice/Now that the truth has been exposed/ It’s up to us how the story goes/ In the book of our nations soul/It’s time to take a stand/ Take back what is our land/Were the solution, their heads will roll/
Shredding the West Coast with The Rebel Spell:
Only a few more dates to go for The Rebel Spell on their latest tour down the West Coast of the U.S. If you missed our interview with their bass player Elliot, you can still download the podcast here. We're not exactly sure when or where their next tour will be, just that more tours will happen in the not too distance future. That's good reason enough to get excited. Well, I'm stuck in Ontario, as The Rebel Spell do their sound check in San Francisco right about now. They are playing at the Knockout tonight and will travel to Reno, Boise and Cashmere before heading back to Vancouver after the 9 date tour. You can see venue details at the band's website. - RTR REBEL FEST 2013 Poster and Ticket Info:
